Michael Tomita

CALGreen Inspector/Plans Examiner, HERS Rater, CEA

Michael Tomita serves as an Energy Analyst at GEM. His dedication to sustainability, resource conservation and climate action led him to green building – to make more efficient use of land, materials and energy. As an energy advocate he believes that design and construction delivery processes must adapt to create healthier living environments, and provide cost-effective energy efficiency solutions to help address the dangers a warming climate has on our living environments.

He has extensive experience working on commercial and residential Title-24, CALGreen, HERS compliance measures, as well as a variety of other green building programs including LEED certification. He delivers the latest green building and energy efficiency solutions value-engineered to meet project goals early in the process. This collaborative approach to the planning and construction delivery processes maximizes the incorporation of value-engineered green features that promote energy efficiency goals on budget. He stays informed of the latest green building and energy efficiency solutions to provide all stakeholders of the planning and building process with the support needed to implement economically feasible green solutions. His ability to provide independent analysis and timely information to coordinate and implement energy management solutions into the design and building of a project makes it successful.

Collaboration during social distancing

April 23, 2020

Dear friends, clients, colleagues and collaborators,

Our team hopes that you are all staying safe and well during this time of crisis.

The situation is fast changing, and Gilleran Energy Management, Inc. is taking every precaution to protect the health and safety of our clients and our staff. We are committed to providing continued service to our clients while abiding by the recommendations or orders from the CDC, WHO and other local governing agencies. We have spent the last month taking proactive and precautionary steps to keep everyone safe while still moving our projects forward efficiently. Things are not business as usual, but we are happy to report that we are now set up to work remotely from the safety of our homes.

There have been some delays and/or inconveniences while we made this transition, we apologize for that. We thank you for your patience and understanding as we continue to adjust to the new “normal”. Most importantly we appreciate your business and choosing to work with our committed group of energy and green building consultants to achieve your goals.

We will continue to monitor the fluid situation as changes continue to occur on a daily basis. Counties in the Bay Area have further restricted work, as of April 1, on construction sites unless they are considered an essential service i.e. affordable housing, medical or government related projects. Our team will continue to shelter in place and will correspond remotely whenever possible. We have created and adapted some industry policies that allow remote site visits via live video and audio as well as the use of photo-documentation. As things change, we will continue to update you.

Please feel free to contact Kevin with any questions or concerns.

Warm regards,

Kevin, Sam, Kim Beltran, Michael, Samantha, Ian, Kim Carpico and Christie
